The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is "A fun, family owned restaurant with "Great home style cooking and fast, friendly service" that is located at 1130 Fremont Blvd. in Seaside, California.

There's almost always a short wait for a table on the weekends, so a complimentary cup of hot coffee is welcome when it's cold and misty out. Which it nearly always is!
While you wait

They have a great kids menu, and crayons are always appreciated.

Phil's Fish Market

It's been more than ten years since our friends insisted we go out to eat at Phil's Fish Market in Moss Landing. We went there a few days ago, and it was even better than I remembered. It's fairly casual and unassuming, but the food is excellent. You have to stand in line to order and then you take your number to a table, indoors or out on the covered patio, and wait for them to bring you your food. Soft drinks and water are self-serve and the full bar is separate. Moss Landing isn't too far from Monterey so we'll definitely be going back before too long. Phil's is also going on the list of places to take visiting friends and family. The ones that like seafood, that is!

Dead Fish
When you first walk in you're greeted by a table of freshly caught fish.

Shrimp Chimichangas
I don't usually ordered fried food when I go out, but these Shrimp Chimichangas, one of the specials, sounded so good that I took a chance. I was not disappointed! The little yellow net bag contains a lemon that keeps the seeds from getting into your food when you squeeze it.

Fried Clam Strips
Fried Clam Strips... yum.

Bahama Billy's Island Steakhouse

Bahama Billy's at The Barnyard in Carmel is one of our favorite restaurants in the Monterey area. It's the one place we know our friends and family will love. The food is consistently good, as is the experience. The weather is usually nice, which is good because we love to sit outside. You can even bring your dog if you want to! The only downside is that it's hard to get out of there without spending a lot of money.

Unfortunately my last two visits to Bahama Billy's were a tad disappointing. First, the normally delicious Crab Mango Bisque tasted a little sour and the food didn't taste quite as good as usual. I really hope that was just a fluke. I'd hate to think the place is going downhill. Last week we tried to order our beloved Watermelon Martinis, only to be told that they were taken off the menu. I don't think I can forgive them for that!

Not cheap!
